Snapshot of the Uruguayan Financial System The Uruguayan Banking System as of December 31st of 2008 is composed of 2 state-owned and 12 private banks. It is worth noting that the information related to Banco Santander includes the expenses related to the acquisition of ABN AMRO that formally took place on December 27th, 2008.
